The Empire is Jaded. But Never Dies

I recently put Jade Empire back in my Xbox to start yet another campaign in the game. But this time I will play the evil role through much of the game. This game was one of my most favorite RPG’s years ago. Actually, that still has not changed in my eyes. This BioWare classic can definitely stand the test of time.

The creators of Jade Empire, BioWare, are also makers of other memorable games like Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights, and Baldur’s Gate. More recent games that BioWare has done are: Mass Effect, the new Star Wars Old Republic, and Dragon Age. BioWare is a Canadian video game developer. It was started back in ’95. BioWare specializes in, well developed, role-playing games. In 2008, before the release of Mass Effect 2, BioWare paired with EA games. This pairing will definitely ensure that their games will be nothing but the best. But check out BioWare’s Website for more upcoming game info.

Jade Empire was originally released in 2005 on the Xbox console. Jade Empire was later released on PC and MAC. This M rated game gave players a mix of magic and martial arts to fight with. The role playing statistic system in Jade Empire uses a tri-stat system Body, Mind, and Spirit. These primary stats control the secondary stats of Health, Focus, and Chi. Chi, is used for healing, magic, or to morph into demons, such as toad demon or horse demon. You also have focus which you use for weapon styles and/or slowing down other characters to throw faster punches at your enemies. There are also conversation skills that you build as well; categorized as charm, intuition, and intimidation.
The conversation dialogue handles just like in Star Wars knights of the Old Republic. Just about every person you see in the game can be talked to or will at least have something to say. So don’t be afraid to be social in this game. BioWare even constructed a Tho Fan language developed by a University of Alberta linguistic Ph.D specially for Jade Empire. You will definitely be amazed at the amount of cinematic dialogue that was put in Jade Empire.

You can even have a romance relationship with one of your followers. It will happen on the night before the golem’s battle, after you defeat deaths hand. Just visit your desired follower’s tent and see what happens.
The fighting in Jade Empire was different from RPG of that time. You fought in real time. Wielding and choosing from many different fighting styles. At the start of the game you can choose from different characters as well, ranging in different specialties much like in Mass Effect. But I will have to say it is not that much of a different from one to another, other than the appearance and the one beginning style. The character you choose has choices to make across the games progress. You choose whether to follow the closed fist (evil) or the open palm (good). This will affect how people you talk to in the game see you and act towards you.

I do not want to ruin the story of the game at all, because you must find out for yourself. I suggest that Jade Empire is a MUST PLAY!!! If you are a fan of Dragon Age then you have to venture in the past and play Jade Empire. Don’t know where to get a copy. Well check on Xbox Marketplace Jade Empire is only 1200 Microsoft points, check Amazon, or your local mom and pop electronic media trade store. Play on…

After reading don’t for get to check out the Gaming How-to page.

Its new and you can find out how to achieve different challenges from different games on there.

    • Well thank you for visiting regularly. Well I am still in the birth stage of my blog. I am not getting tons of traffic daily just yet. but I would suggest reading up more on the Akismet stats and what it can do for you. And I am not sure about about the plugins I still use the free wordpress right now. But I would suggest if you look for them that you should read the reviews from others before diving in and getting it. Good luck I hope it gets better.
