“The Name is Bond, James Bond.” Best 007 Game

Dust off your old N64 system, grab the game, blow into the cartridge, slam it into place, find a working controller, then flick the switch. We are taking flashing back in the past to review how awesome 007 GoldenEye is even today.

If you guess 007 GoldenEye for the N64 to be the best Bond game, then you are correct. I hope the fans of this game would agree with me. Because every fan of the GoldenEye movie always wanted to jump into the skin of Bond himself. And in 1997 Nintendo released 007 GoldenEye on the N64 and it quickly became one of the favorite first person action shooters.

This is what the wiki page had to say:

GoldenEye 007 was developed over two and a half years by an inexperienced development team and was originally intended to be an on-rails shooter inspired by Sega’s Virtua Cop, before being redesigned as a free-roaming shooter. As one of the first first-person shooters for a home console, GoldenEye 007 established a new archetype and introduced several innovations to the genre, including a zoomable sniper rifle, stealth elements, and a multiplayer deathmatch mode on a console.

In it’s time the game sold over 8 million copies worldwide and is duplicated in many different forms on different platforms today but still can not be matched to how great the original game is. In fact the only game that can be considered better than GoldenEye for setting new gaming standards is Perfect Dark made by Rare for N64.

007 GoldenEye was created to closely follow the story in the actual movie. You obviously play as the famous James Bond. Who, if you didnt  know, is a British secret intelligence service agent. Each mission will have you blasting through enemies so you can complete your objectives with all of Bonds handy gadgets. Bonds watch being the most important in this game. Throughout your missions you will come across different weapons that the enemies were using. Pistols, submachine guns, sniper rifles, and automatic rifles will all be around on the maps. Some weapons have scopes for precise shooting, and some weapons even are silenced. See which weapons you like most from the game.

So do as Bond does and order your drinks shaken, not stir’ed. Relax in your favorite chair, and get on your Wii to find out how to bring this gaming memory back to life. Or dust off that old N64 system to relive the memory of this 007 experience. Even to this day I enjoy playing 007 GoldenEye. But my fondest memories of playing were when I played multiplayer with my friends.

007 GoldenEye was advertised in the states and over in Japan. I searched the internet to find the old commericals for the game. Watch and see the difference:
