Part-time Gaming Now

Hey followers. First off I want to say thank you. To all that read my post and those who continuously view the site.

My life has been busy. I work a 8-5 M-F IT corporate job. So gaming time has been limited. But today I wanted to write another post. Show you of what my gaming has been like since I work a regular 40 hr M-F job.

My Attack of the B-Team server still is going. Though I will be shutting it down soon. The world and modpack has become too much to fix on a weekly basis. We have tried to add some players that expressed interest to join through our Facebook page. One I think may have corrupted the world when he joined. Houses were removed by chunk re-population. I was able to save most of it with a recent backup. IF YOU RUN A SERVER OF ANY GAME, BACKUP OFTEN! MY TIP TO YOU. But one players home was still destroyed. So I and one of the former residence decided to rebuild. Visit our Facebook page and see all of our Screenshots in the phot albums.

I have also been playing some console games as well. Continue reading ‘Part-time Gaming Now’

Starbound Server

•July 29, 2015 • Comments Off on Starbound Server

Hello Gamers,

During the Steam Summer sale there was an indie game I have been wanting. Normal price $14.99, on sale for a brief time, $10.04. That is one reason why I love PC gaming and Steam Summer sale. Starbound is the game I am talking about, I have been hooked since I installed it. If you have not been on steam or found this game you should check it out.

Starbound is a Space theme, Sand box, Exploration, building game. Made by two of the same creators of Terraria. Starbound is a lot like Terraria but in Space. There are different races to choose from and many planets/solar systems to explore. Starbound starts off with your character spawning on a damaged ship. Each ship is different based on your race. You will even have a pet on-board which is different based on race. Your mission is to get your ship running to explore the galaxy. This game is precedually generated. Which means someone can post online cordinates of a planet and you can go there in your game. If you are running the same OS you will see the same places and items they find. Visit Reddit to see all the cordinates people post (). Starbound has missions to complete and many different worlds with surprises and dungeons to explore.

Though at the start of the game there is a bit of “grinding” to get your character tough enough to move onto more difficult planet environments. I do like how they designed this in the game. I can see why you would want to have the right Tech for certain planets. There are a few different typs of stars in the game:

  • Gentle
  • Eccentric
  • Radioactive
  • Frozen
  • Fiery

It is a rewarding feeling to go level up through the missions. Mining what you need to do all that is repeatative. Starbound mining is just like Terraria. You never know what you will run into underground. My biggest complaint about the missions that are in the game right now are they can be difficult. Your character can easily die if you are not able to heal constantly when under attack. There is no checkpoint in the missions. While the small boss fights if you die, you have to start all over. While other missions can be long and challenging. Though through repeatition of creating characters the missions get easier.

Starbound is still in early access on their Website and on Steam. I do look forward to more updates as the game is being developed. I would like to see the completion of the game. Since Terraria recently updated with LOTS more content, I hope that they developers will be able to do the same for starbound. While there are independent gamers that have written mods for the game. There are all kinds of mods to try out. Some that change the ship you fly, add races to play as, missons and dungeon add ons, Etc.

This game does support multiplayer. There are 2 options for playing with friends. You can port forward and use Hamachi to host a local game play with friends. This works well for the game since you ship is saves with the character accross “worlds”. Or you can play to get a hosted server. Purchasing a hosted server is the easiest and at around $4 a month you can’t complain.

I currently am hosting a Starbound server. I am running a modded server. We play with the Mega Man X mod. Which adds lots of new tech, bosses, gear, and weapons to the game. I also set my server up for player to have access to simple commands. commands like /warp which has come in handy when mining.

Must Try/Buy Indie Games

•September 22, 2014 • Comments Off on Must Try/Buy Indie Games

In this post you will find many indie games that I personally own and have played. What is an indie game? An indie game is a video game that is developed by individuals or a small team (independent developer) without any support from a video game publisher. Many indie game developers rely on digital distribution (such as Steam) to help get funding to develop and complete their work. Each game you see in this post I recommend you check out and play for yourself. Continue reading ‘Must Try/Buy Indie Games’

Guild Wars 2 Adventures

•August 8, 2014 • Comments Off on Guild Wars 2 Adventures

Welcome to my Guild Wars 2 post

This post talks about what I like best about certain characters, professions, adventures, and more in Guild Wars 2.

Profession reviews:

I have created a female norn thief. I have yet to get my thief to level 80. So far All the powers a thief possess are visually appealing and stealthy. Building a thief class that is mostly based with stealth is a good idea. Enemies will find it hard to target and hit you if you keep vanishing. If you build your traits with damage in mind then you will find the thief can be a quick striker and a great stealth threat. With trait abilities like leaving catrops behind when dodging and swiftness after you dodge you can leave enemies in your dust to attack again. Also the thief trap and thieves guild abilities can give you some much needed help when getting attacked by multiple enemies. The weapon skill sets are all great no matter when you like to play with. Duel pistols and short bow allow a little more range attacks. Where as a sword/dagger, duel daggers gives the player a more stealthy and fast hitting approach. The weapon load out I like to run with when doing PvE is Pistol/dagger and dagger/pistol. Mainly because of the stealth shadow step. The traps that the thief has can be great for defense in WvW. I honestly really encourage those who are interested in trying out the thief I encourage it. If you have any more specific questions about a thief build then please ask in the comment box below.

I created a tall Asura necro. That little asura has become one of my favorite characters to play as. I will say the storylines for the Asura are by far the best beginning story missions. But a Necromancer build can be very versatile. While the Necromancer is a casting class, it is also a class that can out live most others. This is a character I have hit level 80 with. I have built my traits set up to focus on the minions that a Necro can spawn. The most I have out the tougher I am to take down. Not to mention they also siphon health for me with every hit. My favorite weapon setup with a necro has to be staff and scepter/dagger. the staff abilities are target abilities but they can effect multiple enemies at once. This is great in WvW battles allowing me to get lots of XP for damaging 5+ enemies at once. A necro can also spawn wells which deal out a lot of damage and there is a trait that can allow you to cast wells. The death shroud ability that a Necromancer has is like another hard hitting bar of health. That is mostly why a Necro can live as long as they do. So if you want to bring the dead back to life as an ugly horror then a necro is your profession. Perfect fit character for the Halloween holiday. If you have any other specific questions about a Necromancer then leave a comment below.

Overall Thoughts

I liked Guild Wars 2 when it first came out. It have been out for a few years now and has been shadowed by many other new MMO’s that are simply better. I liked this game when I had friends that I knew to play with. The stories that they have, and still are, releasing from month to month are fun. These add-ons’ require players to  know a large number of people to venture and fight  with. I did not play Guild Wars 2 enough to meet with that many people to play with. Nor did I learn enough or play enough in the game to get the needed high level gear. From what I played of Guild Wars 2, which was over 90 hours overall, I enjoyed the game. It is not worth purchasing now because the community, while still online, is not what it was 2 years ago.
